I've been testing both OpenClaw and Hermes side by side. OpenClaw is still my main driver, but after spending a few days with Hermes, I have to admit that Hermes feels more capable in a lot of situations, especially with smaller models. What stood out to me most is that Hermes seems much more autonomous. When the task is clear, which is usually how I try to interact with AI systems, it tends to just go off and do the thing with very little hand-holding, and a lot of the time it one-shots the tas
Hey r/openclaw,
With the launch of Google's Gemma 4 (now fully open under Apache 2.0) and the OpenClaw 4.1 update dropping yesterday, the local agent game just completely changed. I’ve been stress-testing the new models, and I wanted to share my optimized stack that essentially gives you highly capable, zero-token-cost sub-agents running on consumer hardware.
If you want to maximize performance while keeping costs near zero, here is the architecture and setup guide you need.

I keep hearing OpenClaw has way more breadth and tools, but I recently started using Hermes and it just works. I understand there are various use cases and one is better than the other in many of them. For most everyday cases dealing with browsing, memory retention and personal stuff, it feels like Hermes is way more streamline and robust.
For the record I did get Openclaw to the same level but it was just more effort than setting up Hermes.
Anyone else have similar observations? Curious
I woke up this Saturday morning to a nice spring April day. I noticed my Cron jobs weren’t complete from last night , given that openclaw has memory issues and his learning how to be more efficient. I inquired about the status of my cron job… then getting error….
Looks like Claude is putting us on tokens versus memberships now, so I converted to the token payment method and I decided to do a couple of configuration changes to make things more affordable. I’m still testing this out. I haven’t fin
Got the email this morning. Third-party harness support ends today at 12pm PT. I run 17 agents on OpenClaw - 10 platform promo agents, 7 content pipeline crons. All on a Max subscription.
The good news: Claude Code is explicitly covered by the subscription. And it turns out the migration is embarrassingly simple.
What I did:
- Created a CLAUDE.md file in each OpenClaw workspace directory. This is the entry point - tells Claude "you are this agent, read HEARTBEAT.md, follow it step by ste
Hey everyone,
I just wanted to share my use case without promoting anything. I think that automated SEO might be the biggest value I’ve been able to get out of this so far. We have an HVAC company and we recently decided to get into residential. Our website started from scratch this year, so we have a long way to go. This is a sub agent with SEO skills, and connected to Ahref to run weekly reports, after every report, it adds tasks to a file that it then uses on every heartbeat. My website code
I've helped fix 200+ OpenClaw setups over the past few weeks. Reddit, Discord, DMs. The pattern is just the same: people break things in their first week that take 5 minutes to prevent but 5 hours to fix later.
OpenClaw now has 310,000+ GitHub stars. NVIDIA just announced NemoClaw at GTC. The v2026.3.22 update dropped on March 23 with 12 breaking changes and 30+ security patches. A fresh wave of people are installing for the first time, and a bunch of existing users just had their setups silent
Heads-up to anyone building with Claude (especially on Pro or Max 20x plans): Anthropic updated their policy in Feb 2026 — using even a single script or wrapper (including OpenClaw-style agents, IDE extensions, or your own automation) around your consumer OAuth token is now explicitly banned as “third-party tool” usage. Your project instantly becomes a “third-party service” in their eyes, and they’re enforcing it hard. On top of that, the fastest way to get lifetime-banned right now is to buy th
